Eastern Pike Regional Police to Participate in Aggressive-Driving Enforcement Initiative

Pike County– The Eastern Pike Regional Police Department will join the Pennsylvania State Police and over 205 municipal agencies to conduct aggressive-driving enforcement through November 20.

Eastern Pike Regional Police Department will monitor roadways in Westfall Township and Matamoras Borough for aggressive driving behaviors.

As part of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT), Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Project, the initiative will aim to reduce the number of aggressive-driving related crashes, injuries and deaths on roadways throughout the state. Any aggressive driver stopped by police will receive a ticket.

Municipal police agencies that participated in last year’s campaign wrote 58,032 aggressive-driving related citations, including 35,126 for speeding alone. Failure to obey traffic control signals or signs was the second most-common offense, resulting in 4,879 citations.

Additionally, the enforcement brought about 376 felony arrests, 203 DUI related arrests and 120 fugitive arrests.

The aggressive-driving enforcement is a part of PennDOT’s Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Project and is funded by PennDOT’s statewide distribution of National Highway Traffic Safety Administration funds. Please visit for more information.
